The 2020 meeting of the Association for Christian Economics UK was on 'Coronavirus: responses of Christian economists' in a virtual meeting, with 42 participants from 4 continents attending the four 10-minute talks.
The theme of the event was "How can Christian economists respond to the economic and societal landscape revealed and altered by the COVID-19 pandemic?"
Professor Julie Schaffner (The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University, USA) led off on "Crises of 2020: Questions for Christian Economists".
Followed by Sir Andrew Dilnot (Master of Nuffield College, Oxford, UK) discussing "Stewardship, Insurance and Uncertainty" and Professor Paul Oslington (Alphacrucis College, Australia) talking to "Economics and Christian Theology in a post-COVID World".
With the final speaker Professor Robert Tatum (University of North Carolina at Asheville, USA) considering "Where there is No Vision, the People Perish" (that is Proverbs 29:18).
The meeting was kindly hosted and closed, after 15 minutes of open discussion, by Professor Michael Pollitt (Judge Business School, The University of Cambridge, UK).
The Annual Meeting of the society was held on 5 - 6 July 2019: from 3:30pm on Friday 5 July until 2pm on Saturday 6 July. It will be held in Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge.
